Carta que envió en 1855 el jefe indio Seattle de la tribu Suwamish al presidente de los Estados Unidos,Franklin Pierce en respuesta a la oferta de compra de las tierras de los Suwamish en el noroeste de los Estados Unidos, lo que ahora es el Estado de Washinton. Los indios americanos estaban muy unidos a su tierra no conociendo la propiedad, es más, consideraban la tierra dueña de los hombres. En numerosos ámbitos ecologistas se le considera como "la declaración más hermosa y profunda que jamás se haya hecho sobre el medio ambiente"
